First Joint Transnational Co-Funded Call

We are proud to announce the results of the First Transnational Co-Funded Call – "Transforming Food Systems: Reshaping Food System Interactions, Fostering Food Innovations, and Empowering Sustainable Food Choices".

This call brings together 36 funding organizations from 19 countries and the European Commission, jointly committing up to 40 million Euros to support innovative research and development projects focused on creating a sustainable food future.

After receiving 275 pre-proposals from nearly 1,700 researchers across Europe, the final selection took place in mid-October 2025. Together with the European Commission, 36 funding organizations from 19 countries will invest over €32 million in pioneering research to drive the transition towards sustainable food systems.

Out of 50 full proposals, 23 projects have been selected to start national or regional contract negotiations, contributing to one of the following key topics:

  • Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems - 85 pre-proposals - 7 projects

  • Topic 2: New foods Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand and supply reorientation - 134 pre-proposals - 9 projects

  • Topic 3: Empowering sustainable food choices – Enabling food environments and dietary shifts - 63 pre-proposals - 7 projects
