Help building stronger connections between science and policy

Collaboration on research-based policy advice to civil servants and policy makers in sustainable food systems transition

In many countries and regions across Europe research contributes to policy making by providing scientific advice to policy makers/civil servants under different forms. This is especially challenging in the area of supporting sustainable food systems transition because of the need for policy coherence across multiple policy areas and stakeholder interests.

Therefore, FutureFoodS partners will develop improved practices for provision of science advice and aim to establish collaboration across the partnership and EU in using the knowledge gained from the research and innovation in food systems for science advice where appropriate.

We wish to engage civil servants – as users of science advice – and researchers providing science advice for their national/regional/local competent authorities across the member countries in the co-creation of new so-called Science Policy Interfaces. To initiate this and to identify interested colleagues we have sent out a survey to civil servants. Please help us identifying civil servants at national, regional or local levels who could be interested in participating in the survey and possibly in further activities.

This survey is designed to:
Assess how scientific advice is used in food policy development and implementation.
Identify gaps and opportunities in science-based policymaking.
Enhance collaboration between policymakers, researchers, and institutions.

Who Should Participate?
The survey is intended for professionals working in:
🔹 Ministries, agencies, departments, and public administrations involved in food policy and sustainability.
