Results First Joint Transnational Co-Funded Calll

"Transforming Food Systems - reshaping food system interactions, fostering food innovations and empowering sustainable food choices”

We are excited to share an update on the First Transnational Co-Funded Call of the FutureFoodS Partnership“Transforming Food Systems: Reshaping Food System Interactions, Fostering Food Innovations, and Empowering Sustainable Food Choices.”

The pre-proposal submission period closed with an impressive response: 275 pre-proposals were submitted by nearly 1,700 researchers across Europe, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient food systems.

These pre-proposals addressed one of the following key topics:

  • Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems – 85 pre-proposals

  • Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand and supply reorientation – 134 pre-proposals

  • Topic 3: Empowering sustainable food choices – Enabling food environments and dietary shifts – 63 pre-proposals

After a rigorous evaluation process, the final selection of Call 1 proposals was completed in mid-October.
FutureFoodS funding organizations, together with the European Commission, plan to invest more than 32 million euros in cutting-edge food systems research.

Out of 50 full proposals, 23 have been selected to proceed to national and regional contract negotiations:

  • 7 proposals under Topic 1

  • 9 proposals under Topic 2

  • 7 proposals under Topic 3
