We are excited to share an update on the First Transnational Co-Funded Call of the FutureFoodS Partnership – “Transforming Food Systems: Reshaping Food System Interactions, Fostering Food Innovations, and Empowering Sustainable Food Choices.”
The pre-proposal submission period closed with an impressive response: 275 pre-proposals were submitted by nearly 1,700 researchers across Europe, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient food systems.
These pre-proposals addressed one of the following key topics:
Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems – 85 pre-proposals
Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand and supply reorientation – 134 pre-proposals
Topic 3: Empowering sustainable food choices – Enabling food environments and dietary shifts – 63 pre-proposals
After a rigorous evaluation process, the final selection of Call 1 proposals was completed in mid-October.
FutureFoodS funding organizations, together with the European Commission, plan to invest more than 32 million euros in cutting-edge food systems research.
Out of 50 full proposals, 23 have been selected to proceed to national and regional contract negotiations:
7 proposals under Topic 1

7 proposals under Topic 3
Congratulations to all selected consortia, and sincere thanks to every applicant and expert involved for their outstanding effort and commitment to shaping the future of sustainable food systems.
